Not Much To Say

As of about 2:30 today, we still had no papers.

Sergey (interpreter) spoke to the investigator, and he said he "hoped to have things signed by 5." They close at 5, so if it isn't done by then... then we have to go back to get them tomorrow. We need them by 5 (or before), so that we can possibly get them back to Lugansk and on the train by 6 to get back to Kyiv. That way our facilitator can get them tomorrow, check things, and then submit them first thing Friday morning.

Once we get the papers, and get them on the the train - then we will not have anything for about a week. (It will take them that long to process papers and set up a court date.) We are going to tell Sergey (our interpreter) to go home to his family (he lives in a city about 4 hours away, is married with a 5 yr old boy) for a few days or so. We will then get Sergey (the driver), and pay him to take us out to camp in the morning. We will stay at camp for a few days, then come back to Lugansk for a day to check internet, work, etc... then head back out to camp for another couple of days, etc. We are going to get Sergey (interpreter) to talk with Sergey (driver) thoroughly concerning this plan... because Sergey (driver) really doesn't speak a ton of English - and we obviously don't speak a ton of Russian.

Nothing really interesting to talk about. We have pretty much been working all day today... we had not even left the apartment up until about 45 minutes ago. Shane and I took a 30 minute or so walk (Hopefully that will help counter today's lunch of noodles I ate...). And now Shane and Sergey are about to drive to Litugino to wait around until 5, hoping to get the papers. I am going to stay here.

One thing I never can used to is the number of stray dogs. It always makes me a little sad. And it makes me miss our puppies. On our walk today, we saw a tiny little puppy sifting through garbage on the side of the road. If we were at home, he would be at my house right now. I still kind of want to go back and get him.

On a side note, we realized that the water in our building actually gets cut off for certain hours at night... from approx midnight-ish to sometime before 6 am. Weird.

It stormed last night, and isn't quite so hot today.

We have been watching Band of Brothers in the evenings and only have one more episode. Sad.

  2. Thanks so much for keeping us updated and for giving cultural lessons. It's good to know that "your mom" jokes aren't universally accepted. Thinking about and praying for you guys!
