Plans, most of the time, don't ever quite seem work out the way we want them to.
We had planned for me to be back at the camp today (Shane would stay in Lugansk for a couple more days to work). However, late yesterday afternoon we got a call from our facilitator that the inspector had not sent all the paperwork he should have. SO, instead of going to camp this morning, we were off to the inspector in Litugino, then back to Lugansk to get the forms on the train to Kyiv.
It actually ended up not being too bad, the inspector - for the first time - actually had the forms ready when we got there... which was nice.
My staying in Lugansk another day is probably for the best anyhow, it gives me another day to get some work done. We are loaded down right now.
I am also still sick to my stomach today, which stinks. I am pretty sure it was something I ate, and wish I could figure out what - so I don't do it again. The other possibility is that I ingested too much water from the tap. But I don't think that is it, I have only been brushing my teeth with it. Although, Shane Duke (the missionary) did say that he got sick off of water in Lugansk. I have only had sparkling water today thus far, and am now trying to decide - from our limited selection - what sounds the most enticing to try to eat. Truthfully, all I want in the world is a smoothie... but that won't be happening. So it is looking like Cup O' Noodles, Ukrainian style for me.
The guy that owns the apartment came by to clean yesterday afternoon. He brought us some cherries. They are different from the Bing and Ranier cherries you see in America most of the time... they are smaller, have a slightly different texture, and are really sour. Good flavor, but sour - if that makes sense. Since they were already really ripe, and I definitely wanted to use them, I decided to try to make some really simple preserves. I pitted them, and then cooked them until they thickened with a little lemon juice and sugar. They turned out really well! I only had a taste, because of my stomach, but I am excited to try them on toast. Now, if only we had some biscuits....
As of right now, I am thinking I will be able to go to camp in the morning. Shane will probably stay here another day or two. We will both come back on Saturday, more than likely, for a few days.
One of the interpreters at camp, Yeagor, is in a band. They are playing in Lugansk on Saturday night, so I think we will try to go see them. I have no idea where it will be, how we will get there, etc... but I am excited to something so non-touristy!
