Busted Heads and Root Canals

Last Friday we went swimming for the first time since being home, at my Aunt Karen's house in Homewood. It was so nice to be able to do something outside without feeling like you could pass out at any second—we will definitely be going back for some more pool time while the weather is warm. Marina, not too long into our time there, decided to try to do a flip off the side—which of course led to her busting her head. It wasn't too bad, mostly just a scrape—she was swimming again in less than 5 minutes. Then, the very next day she busted her lip while playing with a baseball outside.

Saturday we went to my grandparents lake house for the day, which was fun as well. It was the first time my grandparents had met the girls, and the first time since the airport my parents had seen them. The girls had barbecue pork for the first time, and seemed to like it—Shane was proud.

Monday we went in for Sasha's first dentist appointment. Verdict: 2 Root canals, and 3 additional teeth are to be pulled. The teeth that need root canals are on opposite sides, so they have to be done on separate days. We go in for the first root canal tomorrow morning. We are going to be at the dentist so much over the next month.

We have been attempting to do some diagnostic tests for schooling... and of course working on the English lessons.

The girls love making videos with my camera, and will literally make them of anything and everything. Literally. Like, they filmed the movie Ice Age while it was playing. Maybe they are planning to burn copies and sell it on the internet for a fraction of the retail price?

My mom pointed out that while I was in Ukraine a good many of my posts revolved around food... and food that I was craving. Weird. Yet another flashing sign that I failed to notice.
